About Us

Jackfruitking Agro Producer Company Limited is a pioneering farmer collective dedicated to transforming the jackfruit value chain in India. We are reviving the significance of jackfruit and raising awareness about its immense nutritional benefits among consumers.

Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Mithilesh Desai, Jackfruitking is building a farmer-centric, farmer-owned value chain that uplifts marginal farmers and promotes sustainable agricultural practices. At the heart of our operations is a robust farmer network, enabling us to provide high-quality inputs and source bulk produce directly from farmers.

Our sustainable value chain minimizes food losses and maximizes value at every stage. By converting jackfruit into innovative, nutritious products, we aim to enhance consumer diets while empowering rural communities.

We are dedicated to elevating the jackfruit’s identity, supporting marginal farmers, and promoting sustainability. Together with our farmer base and partners, we are committed to building a brighter future for agriculture by reducing global hunger, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering economic growth.

Our mission is to promote sustainable lifestyle by integrating jackfruit in food, cosmetics, wearables, medicines, and climate initiatives.

Over the next five years, we aim to directly involve 25,000 farmers across India in our value chain, indirectly benefiting up to 100,000 farmers.

The region of Konkan has witnessed a significant decline in farming activities due to persistent losses, leading to youth migration to cities like Mumbai and Pune in search of better livelihoods. Farmers, discouraged by unprofitable agricultural ventures, have been abandoning farming, creating an urgent need for sustainable economic interventions.

Our journey began with the collection and study of various jackfruit varieties from across the world. We initially identified and collected 86 high-yield jackfruit varieties from a total of 128 known varieties globally. Through extensive research and collaboration with agricultural experts, we selected the most suitable jackfruit strains for the Konkan region, focusing on their resilience, nutritional value, and commercial potential.

The company identified jackfruit as the ideal crop for this transformation due to its abundance, resilience, and commercial potential. Despite the widespread availability of jackfruit in the region, a significant portion of the produce would go to waste due to the lack of organized harvesting, processing, and market linkages.

Jackfruit has the potential to create socio-economic reforms in the Konkan belt by providing farmers with a viable and profitable agricultural alternative. Its versatility allows for the production of multiple value-added products, including plant-based meat alternatives, flour, snacks, and ready-to-eat meals. The company’s strategic focus on jackfruit-based value chain not only reduces food wastage but also generates employment, boosts rural incomes, and contributes to the growing market for plant-based, sustainable food options.

Today, Jackfruit King is directly impacting the lives of 1,077 farmers in the Konkan region, covering 1700 acres of land.

We have now advanced into value addition of Jackfruit, establishing modern processing units to create high-quality jackfruit-based products. This initiative ensures better price realization for farmers while reducing food wastage and improving livelihoods. By leveraging jackfruit’s immense potential, Jackfruitking Agro Producer Company Limited aims to drive rural prosperity, encourage youth to stay in farming, and create a sustainable agricultural ecosystem in the Konkan region.

  • Empower Farmers: Strengthening the livelihoods of farmers by integrating them into sustainable and profitable horticulture-based agribusiness.

Challenges in Jackfruit & Horticulture Crops

  • High Post-Harvest Losses: Nearly 30–40% of jackfruit and horticultural produce is wasted due to improper harvesting, storage, and lack of efficient supply chains.
  • Limited Market Linkages: Marginalized farmers face difficulties in accessing conventional markets, leading to distress sales and low returns.
  • Lack of Processing Infrastructure: Only 15–20% of jackfruit production is currently utilized for value-added products, resulting in lost economic opportunities.
  • Climate Vulnerability: Horticulture crops are highly sensitive to climate variations, impacting yields and farmer income.
  • Low Farmer Awareness & Adoption of Best Practices: Many farmers lack knowledge of sustainable farming methods, leading to suboptimal productivity and quality.
  • Limited Women Participation: Women contribute to 78% of agricultural labour but have significantly low access to resources, training, and financial support.
  • Food Security & Nutrition: With 800 million people globally suffering from hunger, addressing food security through sustainable horticulture is crucial.

We are actively addressing these challenges by establishing a sustainable, farmer-driven supply chain, ensuring value addition and innovative processing, and empowering marginalized farming communities, including women and youth, in the horticulture sector.
